Gujarat’s Vishal Jaiswal etched his name into the history books by dismissing the man with 84 international centuries, marking a “golden chapter” in his cricketing career.
The high-stakes encounter took place on Friday, December 26th, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy clash between Delhi and Gujarat. Representing Delhi was the national icon, Virat Kohli, a man who boasts a staggering 84 international hundreds, including a record-breaking 53 in the ODI format. Widely regarded as the greatest player in the history of One Day cricket, Kohli was batting on 77 when he was outfoxed and stumped off the bowling of Jaiswal. For the 27-year-old left-arm spinner from Gujarat, it was the crowning achievement of his professional life.
Reflecting on the dismissal in a post-match interview, Vishal shared his tactical mindset and the emotions he felt in that high-pressure moment

“When you are bowling against a batsman like Virat Kohli, you have to be mentally incredibly sharp. I knew he likes to use his feet and reach for the ball against spin. My plan was to bowl it a bit slower with more loop, enticing him to overstep.”

The execution was flawless. Kohli stepped out to attack but lost his balance, allowing wicketkeeper Urvil Patel to whip off the bails in a flash. Overwhelmed by the magnitude of the moment, Vishal could barely contain his emotions.
“After taking the wicket, I couldn’t believe it,” Vishal added. “I couldn’t even celebrate standing in front of him. I just thanked God for that moment. After the match, Virat Bhai himself came over and signed the ball for me. That ball is the greatest achievement of my career, and I plan to keep it framed.”
Dismissing a legend like Virat Kohli on the stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy is undoubtedly a career-defining milestone for Vishal Jaiswal. Despite the fierce competition on the field, Kohli remains a symbol of respect, inspiration, and emotion for the next generation of cricketers.
For a young player like Jaiswal, taking Kohli’s wicket is more than just a success—it is the realization of a lifelong dream.
