Usman Khawaja to Bid Farewell at the SCG
At 39, Australian opener Usman Khawaja is calling time on his international cricket career. This week’s Pink Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) will mark his 88th and final Test match.

It is a poetic conclusion: the very ground where his First-Class journey began and where his Test career was born will now host his final act.
From being an overseas-born player to donning the Baggy Green, Khawaja’s career is a unique saga of struggle, patience, and incredible comebacks.
A Look Back at a Remarkable Career
Usman Khawaja made his Test debut at the SCG during the final match of the 2010–11 Ashes series. Since then, over the course of 87 Tests, he has amassed 6,206 runs at an impressive average of 43.39, including 16 centuries.

  • A Pillar of Reliability: One of Australia’s most dependable openers in recent years.
  • The Grand Finale: A farewell on home turf, in front of his family, wearing the pink jersey.“I’m here to announce today that I’ll be retiring from all international cricket after the SCG Test match,” Khawaja told reporters at the ground, where the fifth Test begins on Sunday. Cricket has given me far more than I ever imagined. It’s given me memories I’ll carry forever, friendships that go well beyond the game, and lessons that shaped who I am off the field.”
Cricket is never just a game…
Some farewells leave us in silence, with tears in our eyes.
